Force & Motion Projects
The first graders created roadways for a homework project to go along with our motion unit. They designed tracks that had inclines and turns. Some children found ways for the ball to travel uphill! They shared their projects with all of the other classes today. The afternoon was full of questions, compliments, inquiry and fun!

Happy Valentine's Day!
The first graders had a great day celebrating friendship in the classroom. They decorated their envelopes early in the day so they could collect all their cards from friends. They counted, sorted, and graphed Conversation Hearts during math time. Some children made Valentine crafts in the afternoon while others worked on holiday word finds. They passed out their cards at the end of the day and read notes from their friends. We had a great Valentine's Day!

Skulls and Teeth
We had another Four Winds lesson today. The first graders learned how features of a mammal's skull can help us determine whether it is a predator or prey. They learned the difference between herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. They were scientists during snack and carefully thought about which teeth they were using to eat their food. Thank you to Lauren and Brad for leading this month's lesson!
