Happy Holidays!

We had a busy and fun week in first grade! We had a great time at the Sing Along and Craft Fair on Tuesday. First graders made a few holiday projects and had fun singing songs to the residents at Jeri Hill. 

Crafty Kids!

The first graders are busy making crafts for the UID Craft Fair on Tuesday, December 18th. They are decorating mugs and making reindeer cocoa crafts. We hope you can join us next week!

Word Detectives!

The first graders earned their word detective badges this week! They have worked hard using all the strategies they know to solve tricky words in books. They celebrated their hard work by showing off their badges and all the word solving skills they have learned. Congratulations first graders!

Hour of Code

The first graders learned about computer coding this week. They tried solving puzzles on https://code.org/starwars.  They had a great time figuring out directions to move characters in a Star Wars game. They were getting really good at writing lines of code! You can learn more at www.code.org. 

Writing Workshop

First graders are learning to write chapter teaching books! They are learning how to break up a big topic into smaller parts. Many students worked on writing a table of contents page for their teaching books. They tried writing short and catchy chapter titles. The first graders are experts on so many different topics!
