Force and Motion
The first graders have been busy setting up ramps to make balls move in different ways. They tried building ramps to make balls go uphill, change direction and stop. They planned designs, tested them, made observations and then changed their designs to make improvements.

Spring is in the Air!
We had a special treat during snack time today. Buddy Dubay came to our classroom to sing springtime songs. We enjoyed listening to songs about maple sugaring. Then we had to take advantage of the beautiful sunny and 60 degree weather. We went for a walk around the school to soak up the sunshine. We checked out the sleeping garden at the library and talked about how we will be planting the seeds in just about a month. It looks like winter will return for a little while but we enjoyed the break today!

100th Day of School
We celebrated the 100th day of school today! We read several books about celebrating 100 days in first grade. The children made 100th day headbands, created designs with 100 objects, and practiced counting to 100 in different ways. They even did 100 exercises. It was a fun day!

Eclipse Glasses   We collected over 5,000 eclipse glasses! We are so thankful for our UCS Community!
