Four Winds
This month's topic was squirrels. The children learned about three different kinds - gray, red, and flying squirrels. They observed skulls, tracks and pelts to learn about their characteristics and behaviors. Thank you Allison and Jenn for leading this month's lesson!

Measurement
The first graders started Unit 5 in math which is a measurement unit. They are learning how to measure length using different units. They practice measuring accurately and counting units carefully. They are even measuring during science time. They are setting up experiments to determine how far balls can roll and measuring the distance to learn about motion.

Our Community Project
Mr. Baron worked with all of the first graders to research an important place in our community using digital tools. Together they created a Google Slide to share information about this place. They also recorded information on the slide. Please visit the link below to see all of their hard work on this digital project. Thank you Mr. Baron for all of your help!

Survey Questions
First graders learned how to ask survey questions and collect data. They chose their own question to ask friends and collected the data. After recording their friends' responses, they made representations of their data. They wrote the question they asked on their representation and found a way to show the results using clear pictures.

Eclipse Glasses   We collected over 5,000 eclipse glasses! We are so thankful for our UCS Community!
