First Grade Flags

The first graders learned about Memorial Day a few weeks ago. We discussed our flag and how it is an important symbol of our country. Bridget came in that day to show pictures of flags from different countries. She started a project with all of the children where they created their own countries. They decided on the language, leader, special foods, and holidays. They also designed their own flags to represent their countries. They created their design on fabric and Bridget sewed the backgrounds. The children took home their flags on Friday.
