First Grade Flags
The first graders learned about Memorial Day a few weeks ago. We discussed our flag and how it is an important symbol of our country. Bridget came in that day to show pictures of flags from different countries. She started a project with all of the children where they created their own countries. They decided on the language, leader, special foods, and holidays. They also designed their own flags to represent their countries. They created their design on fabric and Bridget sewed the backgrounds. The children took home their flags on Friday. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this fun project with the first grade class Bridget!

The Garden Project
Last Friday the first graders helped plant their vegetables in the garden by the Deborah Rawson Library. We hope you get a chance to check out this beautiful garden that your wonderful children helped create. They were so proud of the work they did that will help others in need.

Reading Buddies
The first and third graders walked down to the river today. They were looking for just the right rock to use for a project. They enjoyed reading together while waiting for their turn to paint. We hope we will have time to get together again before the last day of school.

Research and Citing Sources
Mr. Baron worked with the first graders to teach them about researching information, noting facts, and citing sources. Together they created an informational book about koalas. Please check it out!
