Motion Projects

The first graders created roadways for a homework project to go along with our motion unit. They designed tracks that had inclines and turns. They experimented with how a ball could travel in different ways down the track. The first graders shared their projects with all of the other classes on Friday afternoon. 

Friendship

The first graders enjoyed exchanging Valentine cards last Friday. They were excited to pass out their cards and receive cards from friends. Their cards were very creative and fun! Thank you for helping your child make one for everyone in the class in the spirit of friendship. 

Writing Collections

The first graders brought in collections of some of their favorite things last week. They brought in collections of shells, rocks, cards, erasers, mini football helmets, keys and much more! The children reviewed their collections and made choices about which item in the collection was the best. Then they wrote reasons to defend their choice. This writing is their introduction to writing reviews. Later in the unit they will write reviews of restaurants, toys, games, movies, books, and favorite places to visit. 

Sharing

The first graders are having a great time sharing things from home each morning. They are working on speaking clearly while sharing information and stories about their items. Thank you for helping your children find special items to share each week.
