A Poem for Mrs. Cote
The first graders wrote a poem for Mrs. Cote today. They brainstormed words and phrases to describe her. We presented her with the surprise this afternoon and she loved it!

Mrs. Cote
Calm, calm, calm
She's funny
She's always hungry
because she's in
the lunch room
She is so nice
She loves math
She likes coffee
She has a great job
Lots of meetings
She's so nice

Sap to Syrup!
We learned about maple sugaring season with our third grade buddies. We learned how to identify maple trees and tell if they are big enough to tap. Miss Joan and Mr. Smith showed us how to tap a tree and explained how to make maple syrup. We even got to taste some syrup on ice cream. Yum!

Poems, Practice and Play!
The first graders are excited to write poems for our new writing unit. They are learning how to see the world with "poets' eyes". They are working on using their five senses, line breaks and descriptive words.
They practiced for All School Meeting with Mrs. Caron. They will lead the meeting on Tuesday, March 26th.
We had a great time building different creations at the Cardboard Challenge. The first graders played with their different inventions like rockets, animals, and houses. We are so glad JES invited us to join in their fun tradition.
