Garden Project
Susan Adams and Trish Kargman came to talk to the kindergarten and 1-2 classes about the Deborah Rawson Community Garden Project today. The K-2 children are going to help plant seeds to grow vegetables and flowers for the garden. The harvested vegetables will be given to the food shelf for families in need. The children will plant the seeds and care for them in the grow lab until they are ready to be planted in the garden in June. The children are very excited to help with this important project!

Friday Fun!
It is always fun to start our day with Buddy!  The kindergarten kids had a great time singing and dancing this morning.

Math
Kindergarten friends are describing and comparing 2D shapes. They are using pattern blocks to fill designs in different ways. They learned the game Fill the Hexagons and found as many ways as they could to make the 6 sided shape using different pattern blocks. They noticed they could use 2 trapezoids, 3 diamonds, or 6 triangles to make the same hexagon shape.

Our Week in Kindergarten
This week we began the new writing unit. The children starting writing about problems in the classroom and school and how to fix them. During math time we described and compared shapes. We made an ocean mural using shapes for different objects. We also showed pictures of our families and shared about the important people in our lives.

Winter Carnival
We had so much fun celebrating the Winter Carnival on Friday! The children went skiing, snowshoeing, participated in relay races and made snow sculptures. It was finally warm enough to enjoy all the snow and our new equipment!
